Bill Barnwell has 13 NFL trades, and the Cleveland Browns are on the list

ESPN staff writer Bill Barnwell has written about 13 trades that include Sam Darnold, Dwayne Haskins, Zach Ertz. He also has the Cleveland Browns making a deal that he feels could provide some help at safety.

In his proposal, the Cleveland Browns would get safety Tarvarius Moore in exchange for tight end David Njoku.

While Njoku is a valuable player, there’s no denying that the Browns need more talent in the secondary and Moore, while he has yet to come around as a pro, did flash potential collegiately. He also has familiarity with Joe Woods, meaning he could get up to speed in a hurry.

"“The Browns desperately need help at safety, so much so that Cleveland fans have literally started a petition for the team to move on from Andrew Sendejo. The problem is that there aren’t many safeties available on the trade market, and the Browns don’t match up well with most of the teams who might have one available, including the Buccaneers with Mike Edwards.Moore was a promising free safety prospect coming out of Southern Miss, but the 2018 third-rounder hasn’t been able to crack the 49ers’ lineup and has played only 7% of the defensive snaps in 2020.”"

Would that be enough?

The Browns front office spent all offseason reassuring Njoku that he would be a big part of this offense. Is a former third-round safety helping the Browns so much that you give up Njoku?

In two games played this season, Njoku has been on the field for 11 percent of the snaps but has been dealing with an injury. He has been targeted four times, catching all of them for 56 yards and a touchdown. When on the field, the Browns have used him. It may be only a matter of getting healthy before we see Njoku have a breakout game in Stefanski’s tight end favored system.

He is still only 24 and has been slowed in development, like most Browns players, with multiple coaches and systems. During the offseason, I would have jumped at this move to get rid of a player that did not want to be here. Now that Stefanski has proven he can handle those types of situations, it might be too early to move on from the young tight end, especially for a safety that has yet to prove a thing at the NFL level.

Next. Browns playing the right way heading into Pittsburgh. dark

Unless the 49ers are throwing in some draft capital with Thomas, there is no way this trade should be on the radar for Andrew Berry and his staff.
