2. J.T. Hassell should make the team

Quite possibly nobody else thinks this is a good idea, but how about bringing back a kid who ran a 4.38, rang up 23 reps for the 225-pound bench press, and had a 42-inch vertical leap at his Pro Day? He may have the best vertical on the team. He was named First-Team All-GSC and the conference Defensive Player of the Year, as well as a First-TeamAll-American by the American Football Coaches Association and Second-Team All-American by the Associated Press.

If you have not heard his story, he does not have a fully formed left hand, which could be part of the reason why teams do not believe in him.

But he was very good on special teams in limited trials with the Browns last season, and he is a logical candidate to become the spy-backer on Lamar Jackson, and he can be the extra back in the nickel and dime formations.  He can help the Browns win.

Last season it was a mismatch to use the much slower Joe Schobert in the spy role because old Joe was using impulse power while Jackson went direct to warp speed. Hassell can keep up with him at least.

Admittedly, however, this reporter may be the only person in the sports community that believes in J.T. Hassell.

He did get a tryout with the New England Patriots last month, however. Maybe Bill Belichick reads Dawg Pound Daily. The Browns should sign him before Belichick does, and in this case, at least, he will play for the NFL minimum.
