Cleveland Browns: Three bold predictions for Baker Mayfield in Week 6
No. 3: Mayfield will get his first rushing touchdown of the season
In 2018, Baker Mayfield set the record for the most touchdown passes in the NFL by a rookie with 27. 2019 was different for him as he ended up with just 22 touchdown passes but he did still score 25 for the team when you factor in his three touchdown runs.
So far in 2020, he’s on pace for the most touchdown passes of his career. With nine in five games, he’s throwing 1.8 per contest which would be 29 for the year should he remain on this pace. However, he has yet to cross the goal line with his legs.
On Sunday against the Steelers, that’s set to change. This first of three bold predictions for No. 6 in Week 6 is that he scores his first rushing touchdown of the season against the Steelers. With Nick Chubb out, the Browns will be using Kareem Hunt and D’Ernest Johnson as their primary runners and those two are no slouches. For that reason, the Steelers will stay just as aggressive in the goal line when it comes to attacking the run.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski has been an ace this season at catching teams napping. He did it to Dallas with the early touchdown pass from Jarvis Landry and then in the fourth quarter with the reverse run bu Odell Beckham, Jr. Here, he uses Pittsburgh’s aggressiveness against them and Baker runs in a short touchdown on an unexpected read-option play.
