The Pittsburgh Steelers, unfortunately for Browns fans, have had a history of outstanding linebacker play. That tradition has gone through a slight gap in its consistency as of late. Ever[S1]  since the tragic career-ending injury to Ryan Shazier the Steelers have been looking for the next inside linebacker to carry on that legacy. They may have found the man for the job in second-year inside linebacker Devin Bush.

In all fairness, Bush was drafted for the role when the Steelers selected him with the 10th overall pick of the 2019 NFL draft. He rewarded the Steelers with a phenomenal rookie season. Bush finished his rookie year with 109 tackles, four fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, one interception, and a defensive touchdown.

Bush has had a strong start to his sophomore campaign and has taken the next step towards being a leader for the Steelers. Bush was given more responsibilities by defensive coordinator Keith Butler, including defensive play calls. Given that the defense already has a strong veteran presence with Cam Heyward, Joe Haden, and T.J. Watt, it will be a few years before they need Bush to fill a strong leadership role. In the meanwhile, Bush will have to settle with being an impact playmaker.

Bush will have a big role to play in Sunday’s matchup. With the battle taking place on the offensive and defensive lines, Bush will have a large say on how much success the Cleveland running game has. The Browns offensive line will need to be able to get the second level and get a helmet on Bush, if not the chunk runs that the Browns have become accustomed to will not be there.

He will also play a large role in the Browns passing game. Bush is excellent in coverage because of his athleticism and instincts. The Browns’ tight ends will have to contend with Bush often in order to convert first downs. How well Bush does or does not play will be a key factor in which team comes out victorious.
