Cleveland Browns land quarterback in 7-round 2021 NFL Mock Draft

Denzel Ward is a borderline elite cornerback, but he needs some help in the secondary. Terrance Mitchell has performed admirably this season, but he is not the long-term solution opposite Ward. That was supposed to be Greedy Williams, but he is currently on injured reserve with a nerve issue in his shoulder. Williams had a middling rookie year, so while he can absolutely still be a good player, it would be better not to count on that happening. Besides, a team can never have too many good corners anyway, so taking one in the first round is hardly an issue.
Despite opting out of the 2020 college football season, Farley could still be a top-10 pick next April, but falls to 22 here where the Browns run to the podium (in addition to being a cliche, this statement is incorrect; general managers don’t make their selections at the podium, Roger Goodell does. Anyway…) in order to select him.
At 6-2 207 pounds with good long speed, fluidity, instincts, and mirror skills, Farley has everything a team could want in a shutdown DB. In 2019, he was targeted 50 times, allowing just 18 catches and one touchdown. He earned an elite 90.5 coverage grade from Pro Football Focus and picked off four passes. He’d be able to shadow No. 2 receivers as a rookie, and should hit the ground running despite taking a year off. If Williams ends up panning out, the Browns would have one of, if not the best CB room in the NFL after this selection.
