In all likelihood, Mac Jones won’t be available when the Browns select in the first round, but he is on the board here, so we’ll go with it. Jones may not have elite size, arm strength, or mobility, but he’s very smart and accurate with a terrific work ethic. He impressed last season after taking over for the injured Tua Tagovailoa (that was typed correctly on the first try) and has taken the next step in 2020. Through four games, Jones has a PFF passing grade of 93.0, 12 touchdowns, and only two interceptions.

He handles pressure well and has found most of his success throwing deep, with seven of his 12 TD passes going for over 20 yards. If Baker Mayfield doesn’t improve significantly over the next 10 games, the writing will be on the wall for the former first overall pick, and the Browns won’t be able to pass on a good QB prospect if given the chance.

At 6-4 and 231 pounds, Jabril Cox looks and moves like a big safety, which is exactly what Cleveland should want at the linebacker position. After dominating at North Dakota State for the past two seasons, Cox is going through some growing pains while adjusting to life in the SEC, but he should continue to improve. His athleticism is worth betting on at this point in the draft, as he has the potential to become an excellent coverage linebacker for Joe Woods’ future dime base defense.

Another 2020 opt-out, Joe Tryon totaled 41 pressures and nine sacks for the Huskies in 2019. Olivier Vernon will not be back next season, and the Browns really do need a long-term complement to Myles Garrett at EDGE. Tryon has great size at 6-5 and 262 pounds and while he does need refinement, he’s an intriguing piece of clay that should be able to make an impact right away due to his physical gifts.
