Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry had been dealing with a painful injury

Jarvis Landry quickly became a leader for the Cleveland Browns after he was acquired in the 2018 offseason. Added in a trade with the Miami Dolphins, Landry brought instant credibility to their receiving corps after leading the NFL in receptions the prior season.

He not only brought them a reliable set of hands with plenty of NFL success, but Landry was also much-needed locker room voice. He showed this off during ‘Hard Knocks’ when he gave a passionate speech about playing through pain.

Now, he continues to prove he’s more than mere talk. Landry, who battled back from hip surgery this offseason, revealed on Thursday that he’s been dealing with a broken rib suffered back in Week 5. He said the injury is painful but is doing everything he can to play through it.

"“It hurts,” Landry said Thursday via Nick Shook of NFL.com. “But depending on the play, whatever, at times it’s bearable. We’ve done a good job making sure I’m getting a little protection here throughout the week, making sure that I cover it up and do whatever I need to do to play on Sundays.”"

Teams all around the NFL have been dealing with a myriad of injuries and the Browns have been no exception. They have yet so see Greedy Williams play this season and won’t see Grant Delpit. There have also been injuries that cost Mack Wilson, Wyatt Teller, Karl Joseph, Ronnie Harrison, and Jacob Phillips games — just to mention a few of the players who have gone down.

Should they have to go into a game without Landry, it would have a huge impact on their game plan. Cleveland is top-heavy with Landry and Odell Beckham, Jr. but behind them things are rather slim.

The most experienced option is Rashard Higgins but he has just five receptions on the season. Needless to say, Landry is important and his playing through the pain is huge for this offense.

It could also continue to set a great example for young players around him. There are clearly some injuries you can’t simply ‘push through’ but Juice is proof that a tough player can find a way to play through a lot.
