Mike Renner thinks Cleveland Browns should panic about Baker Mayfield

There has been no shortage of criticism thrown at Baker Mayfield after the latest Cleveland Browns loss. It’s not unfair as Mayfield has had his share of struggles and that’s been showcased in their two losses to the Ravens in Week 1 and the Steelers in Week 6.

However, even in their four wins in between those games, Mayfield hasn’t exactly excelled. That’s what Mike Renner of Pro Football Focus says, who claims the team needs to ‘panic’ when it comes to their signal-caller.

Ths story from Renner and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Renner: It’s time to panic about Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield — Mike Renner, PFF

"“While the Browns’ four-game winning streak masked Mayfield’s 66.3 passing grade over that span, it’s impossible to mask where Mayfield has struggled when the Browns have to play catchup. If that doesn’t change soon, the Browns can’t be considered serious contenders in the AFC.”"

Mike Renner thinks Baker Mayfield had become a problem. He believes the team was winning in spite of him rather than because of him. Unless he can get things figured out, the criticism is only going to grow louder for the former No. 1 overall pick.

Baker Mayfield: ‘4-2 has never felt so much like 0-6’ after that loss because of their high expectations — Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"“Yeah, I’d say the feeling throughout the building after that loss, 4-2 has never felt so much like 0-6 before,” Mayfield said. “That’s because we have very high expectations for ourselves. We’re eager to get back to work and to get out there and fix the problems that we know are within our own control.”"

Mayfield understands that the team has done well to get the 4-2 record but also knows that unless they can compete with the Steelers and Ravens, the season won’t end the way they want it to.

Analyst Calls Out Browns QB Baker Mayfield: You do Give a Damn —  J.R. De Groote, Heavy

"“Easy Rhett Butler,” Silver said, referencing the Gone Like the Wind character. “Your whole career has been fueled by the chip you carry because you don’t give a damn. I know you won’t get mad at me saying that, because you don’t really care what I say.”"

Mike Silver has been a big-time basher of the Cleveland Browns ever since they fired Hue Jackson. He and Hue have been friends for a long time and Silver seemed to take it personally when the firing tool place. Having said that, he’s not completely off base with what he said. Mayfield hears the criticism and he does try to silence it, which is the opposite of “not giving a damn.”

Browns’ Odell Beckham Jr. on COVID-19: ‘I don’t think it’s going to enter this body…it’s a mutual respect’ — Chris Bumbaca, USA TODAY

"“Not in an arrogant way,” Beckham said. “I don’t think COVID can get to me. I don’t think it’s going to enter this body. I don’t want no parts of it, it don’t want no parts of me. It’s a mutual respect.”"

I’m not a doctor or anything but I feel certain that this is not how viruses work.
