Rashod Bateman, Minnesota

Minnesota’s Rashod Bateman should be at the top of the Browns’ draft boards when the 2021 NFL Draft rolls around should they opt to draft a wide receiver early on this coming April. The caveat is that they would have to use their first round pick, likely in the 20s, to get him as there is little hope of him falling out of the top-32 picks on Thursday night.

A massive target, listed at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, Bateman possesses the route running savvy to get in and out of his breaks with great efficiency. While he lacks elite athletic ability, Bateman is technically refined and creates separation with his elite footwork and subtle use of his hands. Bateman excels down the field and along the boundary as he has a great ability to track the ball deep, as well as possess great body control along the boundary.

Bateman is coming off of a Sophomore season with the Golden Gophers where he racked up a whopping 1,219 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns on 60 catches. Now entering his Junior season, Bateman is off to a fast start with Minnesota in 2020 as he racked up 101 yards on nine catches in their Week 1 loss to the Michigan Wolverines.

He is one of the top receivers in the 2021 NFL Draft class, and as the Browns will be out of the reach of LSU’s Ja’Marr Chase and Alabama’s Jaylen Waddle, Bateman is an excellent option should he be on the board in the first round.
