Cleveland Browns: 5 potential 2021 NFL Draft replacements for Odell Beckham Jr.
By Cory Kinnan
Chris Olave, Ohio State
A little hometown loving is necessary, right?
A fifth and final wide receiver, and another fringe first or second round prospect is Ohio State’s top receiver Chris Olave. A year ago, with three Seniors syphoning targets from him, Olave still managed to hit double-digits in touchdowns, while racking up nearly 1,000 yards receiving. Before leaving the game early this weekend against the Nebraska Cornhuskers with concussion symptoms after taking a big hit, Olave made his mark on the game.
Olave finished the game with 104 yards on six catches, and was just inches away from making an outstanding touchdown grab on a Justin Fields deep ball where he elevated at the catchpoint in the endzone before having the ball knocked out as he was falling towards the ground.
He is not a burner as he will likely run in the 4.5s on his 40 yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, but he is a smooth route runner with Charmin soft hands. As he is now the top dog in the receivers room down I-71 in Columbus, Olave should see a higher volume in targets and improve his draft stock.
He has the makings of a top-50 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, so the Browns will need to act accordingly if they want his services.
