3 keys to victory for the Cleveland Browns against the Las Vegas Raiders

Following an exciting win against the division (and in-state) rival Cincinnati Bengals, the Cleveland Browns are 5-2 for the first time since 1994. A victory this week against the Las Vegas Raiders would move them to 6-2 heading into their bye week, and if that happens, the playoffs won’t just be possible; they’ll be probable.

First thing’s first though; the Browns need to take care of business at home this week. The Raiders are 3-3, with a couple of impressive victories on their resume as they scored wins over the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs. They’ve also been stomped by the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It’s difficult to get a good read on who Las Vegas is as a team, but they are certainly beatable.

The Raiders are one of the teams the Browns will be competing with for a Wild Card spot as the season winds down, so getting the win this week could have massive implications later in the year when it comes to tiebreakers. Just as important as a playoff push is Baker Mayfield’s performance, and he’ll have a chance to build on the best game (er…three quarters) he’s ever played.

This could also be a revenge game for Baker, who made his first career start against the Raiders in 2018 back when he was a rookie and the Raiders were in Oakland.

It’s a huge game, and if Cleveland wants to emerge victoriously, here are three things they’ll have to do.
