Cleveland Browns: 3 keys to victory against Las Vegas Raiders

2. Don’t give up big plays
Derek Carr has been ridiculed for a lack of downfield throws during his career, but he’s done his best to push back against that narrative this season. On passes 20+ yards downfield, Carr is 13 of 19 for 438 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions. He’s been at his best throwing down the middle of the field, which is of course where the Browns are weakest. Andrew Sendejo absolutely must play better, otherwise, Darren Waller, Henry Ruggs III, and *checks notes* Nelson Agholor will have a field day.
This game has all the makings of a classic shootout, with two weak defenses facing two explosive offenses. The defense with the fewest mistakes will likely emerge victorious, and that’s been a problem for Cleveland thus far in 2020. There have been far too many blown coverages and chunk plays given up downfield. The Raiders have already beaten the Chiefs in a scoring competition this year; they can absolutely do the same to the Browns.
Defensive coordinator Joe Woods will have his hands full, but fortunately, there weren’t any new injuries to the secondary this week (knock on wood), so he’ll have his (mostly) full deployment of defensive backs at his disposal to slow down Carr.
