A 7-round Cleveland Browns 2021 NFL mock draft heading into Week 8

The Cleveland Browns are now 5-2 heading into Week 8, and with just one game to go until their bye week. It’s the best start for the team in over 25 years, and the playoffs are completely within reach, which feels great to be able to say. But that doesn’t mean we can’t still have some fun looking ahead towards April, which is what we do here as we look ahead to the 2021 NFL Draft.

For this week’s mock, we’ll be using FanSpeak’s On the Clock 2021 simulator, with DraftTek’s big board, Fanspeak Steve’s team needs, Vegas Super Bowl odds for the draft order, and the classic difficulty setting.

Because of Baker Mayfield‘s unbelievable performance last week, and due to what pick the Browns have in the first round here, we won’t be going quarterback first. There will be no more said on the subject.

Seven of the nine selections made in this mock were defensive players, which makes sense, because that’s clearly Cleveland’s much weaker unit. The offense has proven to be able to score with the best of them, as long as they aren’t playing an elite divisional foe. The board fell in such a way that the best available player in the first round played on offense. In this scenario, general manager Andrew Berry would likely trade down. But it’s very messy to trade picks in mock drafts, so we’ll just take what we’re given here.
