After the injury to Odell Beckham Jr., the Browns now have a severe lack of depth at the wide receiver position with only three serviceable pass catchers on the roster. With only Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins, and Donovan Peoples-Jones left, Berry and his team will need to find another target for quarterback Baker Mayfield to throw to.

Undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft, the 6-foot-2 Jakobi Meyers could be on the radar of the Browns as they look to add another name to their receivers room. He is not the most athletic or productive receiver in the league, but has shown the ability to win with strong hands and with sharp routes (similar to both Landry and Higgins).

These are the types of receivers who Mayfield tends to thrive with: the one’s who can navigate zone coverages well, break off defenders with precise routes, and ones who are flexible enough to manipulate routes based on the coverages they are seeing. A prime example of this is Higgins’ ability to break off a route against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday and reroute to a back-shoulder throw.

There are reasons to believe Meyers would bring this same savvy to the Browns given his strengths on the field.
