Who takes home the Cleveland Browns mid-season awards?

The Cleveland Browns have hit their bye week with a record of 5-3. While that record is solid and one of their best records in years, they believe they still have a lot of work to do, and they are not satisfied with where they are at. In shocking fashion to some people, the Browns did not make a single move ahead of the trade deadline.

Again, while many believe this was not the right move, it just shows the Browns are not confident about competing for a Super Bowl this year, which is absolutely okay. If they get into the playoffs, anything can happen.

That said, they are one or two years away from being legit contenders. Having reached the halfway point of the season, who has earned some hardware in these mid-season awards?

Best coach: Bill Callahan

The best coach for the Browns halfway through the season really could have gone to either Kevin Stefanski or Bill Callahan. While I love Stefanski and think he has proven that he can be a long-term coach here in Cleveland, I believe that Callahan is more deserving of this award.

Don’t get me wrong, new Browns GM Andrew Berry did a great job in bringing in new guys on the offensive line to boost it in drafting Jedrick Wills and signing Jack Conklin. That said, give Callahan most of the credit. From coaching Wills into a solid young rookie, to turning Teller into arguably the top guard in the NFL, and having the line in the top 10 in both run and pass blocking as a collective unit, he has done an outstanding job. Not only has the production been there, but so is the discipline.

Not committing false starts or holding penalties on crucial drives is new, something that has caught my eye as a beautiful thing in the first half of the season. As this Browns offensive line continues to build together and continues to get better as a unit, Callahan will continue to lead them in the right direction and lead them down the path of domination.
