3 Cleveland Browns who will break out after the bye week
1. Sheldrick Redwine, Safety
Sheldrick Redwine has been a player that the Browns have hoped would develop into a solid starter since they spent a 4th round draft pick on him in the 2019 NFL Draft. Redwine has not seen much playing time this season because he has been playing behind Andrew Sendejo, Karl Joseph, and Ronnie Harrison; but that should change in the second half of the season.
The second-year safety has played well in his limited playing time this year. In the Week 6 matchup with Indianapolis, he recorded his first career interception, and he has shown some flashes of supreme athleticism. But, like Sione Takitaki he has had his fair share of mental gaffes as well, which have kept him off of the field.
He should see the field more since all of the safeties ahead of him have struggled with injuries to differing extents so far this season. This increased playing time has been good for his development as a player, and as a leader in the back end of the defense.
Andrew Sendejo has also had his fair share of struggles while playing ahead of Redwine. It seems every week Sendejo misses a couple of coverages in some of the most pivotal moments of the game. He seems to get burnt often, which is something that more playing time for Redwine could fix.
During this next series of games, look for Redwine to continue to see an increase in playing time. Sheldrick Redwine will provide a much-needed boost of talent in the backend of the defense.
