Cleveland Browns trade down in Week 10 7-round 2021 NFL mock draft

Camryn Bynum originally opted out of the 2020 season, but decided to opt back in. He is recovering from knee surgery and has yet to play this year. There are three main reasons why Bynum will slip despite having three seasons of strong play. His injury, his age, and his scheme fit.
He’ll be a 23-year-old rookie who doesn’t have the athletic ability to excel in tight man coverage. He’d be best suited for playing predominantly zone, or perhaps even transition to safety. But based on his college tape, he would be a good fit in Joe Woods’ cover-3 scheme, even if he’s not starting.
A torn ACL kept James Wiggins out of the 2019 season, but he picked off four passes in a strong 2018 campaign and has picked up where he left off in 2020. He’s a versatile player, able to line up at both safety spots as well as slot corner. He’s been a crucial part of the defense that has the Bearcats ranked seventh in the country through six games.
Davis has gotten some first-round talk, but it’s hard to see that happening. He is a massive 6-6 330 pounds with the physical ability to dominate at the line of scrimmage, but we haven’t seen that happen enough for him to be considered an elite prospect. The Browns do need a run-stopping 1-tech, and while that’s expected to be Billings in 2021, upgrading from Vincent Taylor at the backup 1-tech spot would be a good idea, especially with someone as talented as Davis.
David Njoku wasn’t traded this season, but it doesn’t seem like that talk will ever go away, and it’s hard to see him on Cleveland’s roster in 2022. Finding a replacement shouldn’t be a top priority, but if Braden Galloway were to fall to Day 3, the Browns should jump on it. He doesn’t have much production, but Galloway is a versatile player who has lined up outside, in the slot, in-line, and in the backfield.
He has a great frame at 6-4 250 pounds, and is a very fluid athlete who creates separation through his route-running. He is also a willing and able blocker with plenty of room to improve in that area. He may not have the elite explosiveness of Njoku, but he’ll be able to get open more consistently.
This class would go a long way to helping the Browns defense improve in 2021. It’d still be a year away from “completion”, but a strong foundation would be laid. Cleveland still ends up with nine selections, but swap those later picks for much higher ones, in addition to adding capital for 2022.
