Cleveland Browns got Nick Chubb back and it showed

The Cleveland Browns came back off the bye week getting several players back. The most notable addition (yes Wyatt Teller came back) was without a doubt, Nick Chubb. Nick Chubb plays running back at a different level. Although rusty, he was able to run the ball when it mattered to secure the victory.

This one got a late start after a 30-minute weather delay. Once the game did start, the Cleveland offense looked promising driving the ball down the field. The drive looked as though it could have gone for even more, until a bad snap plus intentional grounding call forced a field goal attempt. Kicker Cody Parkey made the field goal giving the Browns a 3-0 lead.

The score would stay that way until the middle of the fourth quarter. You guessed it, Nick Chubb was able to put the finishing touches on a drive that saw a false start and a holding call. Cleveland had to overcome a 3rd and 18 and also a 1st and 20.

This ugly-weather game was a defensive marvel. The score at half time was 3-0, which is the lowest scoring game on record for this season. The defense did an excellent job today. They held the Texans scoreless for most of the game.

For the Texans, it was a game of field position. The field position was against the Browns all game. Cleveland’s offense started inside their 20-yard line at least three times. Two of those drives started inside the 10-yard line. The Browns were unable to get out of the bad field position and gave the Texans several short fields.

For the Browns, it was bend but not break. On two occasions the Texans were in scoring position but Cleveland was able to make a stop on fourth-and-goal. The Texans also missed a field goal. It was a situation where the Texans were moving the ball but could not score.

Middle of the fourth quarter the offense showed up. The Texans drove down the field and scored making the game 10-7 Browns. But the Browns were able to close the game out by running the ball.

Nick Chubb made the game management play of the year. On 3rd-and-3, Chubb broke free and ran the ball all the way down to the one-yard line. Chubb could have scored but he chose to run the ball out of bounds instead of scoring.

The brilliance of the play was that the score would have caused the Browns to kick-off to the Texans with just under one minute left on the clock. By running out of bounds Chubb allowed the Browns to take a knee and close out the game.

The Browns and Rashod Bateman fit like a glove. dark. Next
