Ja’Marr Chase headlines this week’s Cleveland Browns mock draft

The Cleveland Browns were expected to have one of the NFL’s best wide receiver duos this season, but Odell Beckham Jr. is out for the year and Jarvis Landry is having by far the worst campaign of his career.

Cleveland’s WR room could look very different next year, and the team could look to add youth to the group much earlier than most think.

For this week’s mock, we’ll be using NFL Mock Draft Database’s simulator, which has Cleveland selecting 17th overall following a Week 10 victory over the Houston Texans.

Scouting Report. WR. LSU. 817. Pick Analysis. Ja'MarrChase. 1.17. player

This is certainly not happening in real life, but then again, no one ever expected Grant Delpit to fall to the middle of the second round.

Ja’Marr Chase opted out of the 2020 season, but he did more than enough to establish himself as the best receiver in a loaded class. Listed at 6-1, 200 pounds, Chase plays much bigger than his size. He is extremely physical and tracks the ball as well as anyone you’ll find. He has great hands and good all-around athletic gifts. The biggest knock on him is that he isn’t an insane athlete, which is fine, because he’s a good one.

Anyone who can put up 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns on 84 catches in the SEC deserves the NFL’s full attention, and Chase looks primed to become an elite No. 1 receiver in the pros. No matter what happens with Beckham and Landry, adding a legitimate X will only help the offense.
