3. Myjai Sanders, Cincinnati

The Cincinnati Bearcats have been one of college football’s biggest surprises in 2020, as they are 8-0 and stand seventh in the initial College Football Playoff rankings. Wins against Houston and UCF have catapulted them into the discussion for a playoff berth, and the job done by head coach Luke Fickell has been nothing short of excellent.

The Bearcats defense is a huge reason why the team is having success this season, and it starts up front. Elijah Ponder is having another solid season, but his mate Myjai Sanders has been even more impressive. Sanders was good in 2019 and has taken his game to the next level in 2020. He’s got five sacks through eight games to go along with plenty of other pressures. He has an NFL body at 6-5, 258 pounds and has been very consistent this season.

Sanders may not be an elite athlete, but he isn’t lacking that area either. He’ll likely be a Day 2 pick, which could line up perfectly with where the Browns want to address the EDGE position. The team does have Curtis Weaver as a lottery ticket for next year; he lacks an NFL body, but has elite agility and some of the best bend you’ll ever see. Depending on how his conditioning is going, Cleveland may be willing to make EDGE a secondary need to, well, the secondary.

It does feel a little strange talking about Cincinnati as a top team, and its players as top prospects, but Sanders is just the beginning.
