Cleveland Browns bolster secondary in 2021 NFL mock draft at Week 12

The Browns are doing their best to marginalize the linebacker position, and while adding players like Nasrildeen will help, they will still need two good LBs. Jacob Phillips has a good chance to be one of them, and he’ll likely slot in at MIKE long-term. Mack Wilson is not the answer at WILL, so adding a physical talent like Baron Browning in the fourth round is too much value to pass up.
Browning was a rotational player over his first three years in Columbus, but with the departure of Malik Harrison, he finally gets a chance to start. Browing is a 6-3, 240-pound heat-seeking missile with elite athletic tools. The talent was always there, but he’s beginning to show consistency in an increased role. He’s also shown an improved ability in coverage, which is very important. If Browning continues to develop this season, he won’t be there in the fourth round, even in a great LB class.
The Browns already had Curtis Weaver stashed for next season, so there’s no reason not to take another Weaver here in the fourth. Rashad plays opposite Patrick Jones, who will likely go in the first round. Weaver has shown steady improvement throughout his collegiate career, and has 5.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss through eight games this season. He has great size at 6-5 270 pounds and is a good athlete. Cleveland needs improved depth on the defensive line, and Weaver will provide it, along with starter potential down the road.
And in case you’re wondering, there doesn’t appear to be any confirmation that Curtis and Rashad are related. If they were, it would make for an awesome story if they were to combine for a sack.
