Cleveland Browns need to add Kenny Stills

The Cleveland Browns need to attempt to land WR Kenny Stills
There was an unexpected move late in the season as the Houston Texans decided to release wide receiver Kenny Stills following their win on Thanksgiving Day against the Detroit Lions. For the Cleveland Browns, this could end up being an early Christmas present as we begin the transition from one holiday to the next.
It’s not exactly a secret that the Browns need help at receiver following an injury earlier in the year to Odell Beckham, Jr. With their No. 1 wideout sidelined with a torn ACL, the Browns have yet to see anyone truly step up.
Jarvis Landry has been a reliable player but his hip and ribs don’t appear to be 100 percent. Tight end Austin Hooper has also been more of a security blanket than someone defenses focus on stopping. And while Rashard Higgins and KhaDarel Hodge have each had flashes, neither has been a consistent weapon this year.
As for Stills, he’s a player who could come in and provide them a wideout opposing defenses have to respect right off the bat. This season, he was buried on the depth chart in Houston — which is what led to his release — and he has just 11 receptions for 144 yards.
For his career, he has 310 receptions for 4,843 yards with 37 touchdowns. He’s also been a dynamic deep threat — he averaged 20 yards per reception as a rookie in New Orleans and had 17.3 yards per grab in 2016 with Miami.
Of course, the only question here is whether or not the Browns would be awarded Stills. He has to clear waivers and it seems likely someone with a worse record ahead of Cleveland would put in a claim.
Even so, they need to at least try. Stranger things have happened and adding a veteran who can stretch the field is exactly what they need as they make a push to the postseason.
