2. Weather no longer an excuse for Baker

Is Baker Mayfield improving under center for the Browns? Sure, however, he continues to make the lives of general manager Andrew Berry and his staff increasingly more difficult as he has yet to prove he is worthy of a long-term deal. This afternoon was no different, as while Mayfield was solid on the day, he left much to be desired still on the field.

This week solidified that weather is no longer an excuse for Mayfield either. Week after week he continues to miss gimme throws, including a chunk of which in the endzone. After missing two touchdown throws a week ago against the Eagles, Mayfield again missed two wide-open targets on the day for the Browns. He also missed a few slam dunk first downs on critical third downs and set running back Kareem Hunt up to be injured on a hospital ball down the field.

Mayfield finished the day 19-29 passing for 258 yards and two touchdowns. He did not turn the ball over, a vast improvement he has made over the previous weeks, but he has yet to take the leap that shows a team he is a franchise quarterback. A good start would be hitting the easy throws to put your team in a better position.

He faces a huge test against the Titans next week, a game that should be rather telling.
