Ronnie Harrison is out for the Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns are placing safety Ronnie Harrison on the team’s injury reserve list on Tuesday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Harrison, who the Browns acquired for a fifth-round draft pick from the Jacksonville Jaguars, injured his shoulder on the first play of Cleveland’s 27-25 victory over his former team.

The injury will reportedly keep Harrison sidelined for up to six weeks. He may have a chance to return late in the season, healthy for a playoff push with the Browns.

Harrison has been one of the lone bright spots on the Browns defensive unit, which was without cornerback Denzel Ward and defensive end Myles Garrett during Sunday’s win. Harrison has one sack and one interception on the season, despite starting just six of Cleveland’s first 10 games. He has also added 32 total tackles so far.

On Monday, the Browns were awarded safety Tedric Thompson off waivers. Thompson, 25, gives the Browns much needed depth in a depleted secondary. He was waived by the Kansas City Chiefs after just eight games, but played his first three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks.

Despite the addition of Thompson, Karl Joseph will likely take back his starting role at strong safety. Joseph started the first four games for Cleveland this season, while defensive coordinator Joe Woods let Harrison get settled into the system. Safety Sheldrick Redwine is also dealing with a knee injury.

In other roster moves, Garrett was elevated from the team’s COVID-19 reserve list. Still, the Browns secondary will be without Ward, who is sidelined with a calf strain.
