Cleveland Browns 2021 NFL mock draft Week 13 edition offers defensive makeover
By Sam Penix
There will be concerns about Jalen Twyman’s frame (6-2, 290 pounds) and athleticism, but there’s no denying his impressive tape and production. He logged 12 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks last season, but don’t even think about comparing him to a certain Los Angeles Ram. Twyman is nowhere close to Aaron Donald athletically, and will never be the dominant force that Donald is.
However, Twyman can still become an effective player at the next level, in spite of his less-than-ideal physical tools. He will need to be protected by a big and strong 1-tech; someone like Andrew Billings should do the trick. Twyman’s technique is pristine, and it’s the one area where he does look a bit like Donald. It’s been a while since the Browns had a true technical artist on the interior of their defensive line, but Twyman would be a welcome addition to a position group that is in desperate need of consistent play. Jordan Elliott and Billings are the only DTs on the roster guaranteed to be on the team in 2021.
Twyman opted out of the 2020 season, and had he played, he could have vaulted himself into the top half of the first round with a strong campaign. Instead, he falls to pick 55 in this mock, where Cleveland happily selects him.
