Why Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt are the best RB duo in the NFL

Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt are the best duo in the NFL
The NFL has slowly been adapting offenses to have two or more running backs that see major time on the field. This has been deemed a system of “running back by committee”. If you go back even 10 years, there were not many teams that would do this. Many teams would have their one workhorse back and simply use him as much as they could. However today, the Cleveland Browns have the best running back duo in the entire NFL.
The two-headed monster of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt has meshed extremely well in their second year together. They were off to a slow start in the 2019 season as Hunt was required to serve a suspension that kept him sidelined for a majority of the season.
They have flourished together under Kevin Stefanski’s run dominant offense and the Cleveland Browns rushing stats have benefitted from it. Even with Chubb being sidelined for multiple weeks with an MCL sprain, Hunt was able to carry the load and keep the Browns on top of the league.
However, when they are together, they are unstoppable. Combined, the two have racked up 1,449 rushing yards, an average of 5.4 yards per carry, 166.9 rushing yards per game, and 10 touchdowns on the ground. Chubb ranks 6th in the league in rushing yards and Hunt ranks 9th in the league in rushing yards.
The two have also carried the Cleveland Browns to the best rushing offense in the entire NFL. The Browns rank first in the league in rushing yards with 1775 rushing yards. Along with this, they also lead the league in rushing yards per game with 161.4. Also, the two have led the Browns to rank 5th in rushing first downs. Despite all of the rushing attempts the two have had this season, they have only fumbled twice. They have fallen a little short with the Browns only ranking 14th in rushing touchdowns.
It is clear that the Browns have leaned heavily on their rushing offense with the passing game being worse than fans would hope. Along with this, the Cleveland Browns had played many games in very rough weather which leads to teams running the ball more than normal.
It is dire that the Browns give Chubb an extension and resign Hunt to the team in the near future so they can retain the best rushing duo in the league. Both are backs who are capable of carrying a team on their own, however, together they are able to stay fresh and extend their careers.
