3 key matchups against the Tennessee Titans

On Sunday afternoon, the Cleveland Browns travel to Tennessee to take on the Titans in an attempt to avenge their ugly season-opening loss just one season ago.

This is going to be an entertaining matchup between the NFL’s two top rushing offenses. The matchup of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt versus Derrick Henry has the potential to one of the best games of the entire season.

This game also has major playoff implications. The Browns are currently in possession of the top wild-card spot in the AFC, while the Titans took the lead in the AFC South last week after their win in Indianapolis. Both teams have a lot at stake in this matchup between two teams who are racing towards the playoffs.

Sunday’s game is full of interesting and fun matchups. Here are the three matchups that will have the biggest impact on deciding who will come out with the win.

3. Myles Garrett & Co. vs. Tennessee Offensive Line

The Cleveland Browns defense is getting a much-needed boost with Myles Garrett returning to the field this Sunday. He has missed the last two games on the COVID-19 list after a positive test.

Prior to his leave of absence, Garrett was tied for the league lead in sacks. He was living inside of opponents’ backfield every game and is expected to continue his reign of terror this week against Tennessee.

With Garrett stuck at home, the Browns needed someone to step up and Olivier Vernon did just that. Vernon posted three sacks in the game against Philadelphia including one for a safety. It is clear that the past two games have been some of the best so far of his time in Cleveland.

With the resurgent Olivier Vernon and the returning Myles Garrett, it is possible that the Browns pass rush could be the best it has been all season. But getting to Ryan Tannehill is going to be no easy task as the Tennessee Titans have only allowed 16 sacks through 11 games so far this season.

If the Browns are able to get pressure on Tannehill and force bad passes it could flip the game in the Browns’ favor. But if the Titans offensive line is able to keep Garrett and Vernon in check it could be a long game.
