Three Instant reactions to Cleveland Browns upset win over Tennessee Titans
By Mitch Zoloty
The Cleveland Browns advanced to 9-3 for the first time since 1994.
Wow! What a game. The Cleveland Browns were able to head into Nashville and score a huge upset over the Tennessee Titans, strengthening their playoff resume. These are pretty much the same Titans who blew the Cleveland Browns out in week one of last season, except they have improved at quarterback with Ryan Tannehill at the helm.
After going up 38-7 at the half, the Browns almost choked their large lead but ended up pulling out the win, 41-35. While you’d much prefer to see the Browns not give up 28 points in the 2nd half, the team played well and should be proud of their performance.
With that being said, let’s dive into some of the instant reactions and instant takeaways fans should draw from this game.
1. Browns sweep the AFC South!
The Cleveland Browns completed the sweep of the AFC South, the conference that is most likely to have the 4 seed in the playoffs. This could bode well for the Browns, as they are currently the 5th seed and will likely play an AFC South team in the playoffs.
Beating the Titans 41-35, along with the Jaguars 27-25, the Texans 10-7, and the Colts 32-23, this is the first time in years that the Browns have successfully swept another division. The team came close last season, going 3-1 against the AFC East, but were unable to beat the Patriots.
This is the first season since the franchise returned in 1999 where the Cleveland Browns swept another division in the regular season. The Tennessee Titans and the Indianapolis Colts are both great wins for the Cleveland Browns, as both are likely to be playoff teams this season. Each game the Browns won in a commanding fashion that was not as close as the scores indicate.
If the Browns are able to make the playoffs, they should be hoping to be matched up against the AFC South champion.
