Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield will be tested in Week 14

Baker Mayfield is coming off what could have been the best game of his career against the Tennesee Titans. The Cleveland Browns won the game in a 41-35 shootout in which Mayfield controlled the game.

He put up one of the best first halves that the league has seen this season. Passing for four touchdowns in only two quarters. He would finish the game completing 25 of his 33 passes for 334 yards and 0 interceptions. This was an explosion from Mayfield that had really not been seen since his time with the Oklahoma Sooners.

Browns fans are hopeful that this will be his breakthrough performance and this Baker Mayfield will be the one that we come to know.

Mayfield will be put right back to the test against a top-10 Ravens pass defense. The Ravens rank 10th in passing yards allowed per game with 221.5. This is a regression from last season in which they only gave up 196.6 passing yards per game and finished 4th in the league in this statistic.

In their previous meeting this season, Mayfield along with the rest of the Browns offense greatly struggled against Baltimore. Mayfield finished the game completing 21 of his 39 passes for 189 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception.

This was a run of the mill game for Mayfield against the Ravens, which is a team that he historically struggles against. In his five matchups against Baltimore, Mayfield averages 22 completions on 37 attempts for 288 yards, 1.6 touchdowns, and 1.4 interceptions.

Mayfield’s record against Baltimore is currently 2-3 in which he has split the series with them every year he has been a starter. With the Ravens handily defeating the Browns in the first matchup, if history repeats itself we should be seeing a Browns’ victory on Monday.

For that to happen, Mayfield must be on top of his game and put on a performance that is similar to that of the game against the Titans. In that game, the Browns passing game was off of the charts.

10 players including Baker Mayfield and Kendall Lamm recorded receptions against the Titans. If they are able to be this creative with the passing game and have it work as exceptionally as it did last week they should be able to handle the Ravens.

Baltimore is only a one-point favorite going into the game on Monday according to Fan Duel. This makes the game more or less a toss-up. If Mayfield is able to play anywhere close to how he played against the Titans, the Browns will be able to bring home a W and improve their record to 10-3.
