Cleveland Browns News: Baker Mayfield is NFL Air Player of the Week
By Randy Gurzi
Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield rewarded for his performance
Week 13 was a big one for Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns. Not only did they get a signature win over a playoff team, but they did so in convincing fashion.
While the final score may have made it look close, the 41-35 score was not indicative of how well Cleveland controlled the game. Much of that is due to the play of Mayfield, who was surgical throughout the contest.
No. 6 finished with 334 yards through the air and four touchdowns — without throwing any interceptions. His performance was so good, that it allowed him to win the Week 13 NFL Air Player of the Week. And he won it easily.
That story and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

"“Mayfield beat out Detroit’s Matthew Stafford and Las Vegas’ Derek Carr for the weekly honor.Mayfield became just the second player in team history to throw four touchdown passes in the first half of a game. The other was Hall of Famer Otto Graham, who did it all the way back in Dec. 1951.”"
Mayfield silenced a lot of critics both in the Dawg Pound and around the NFL world. He’s been playing lights out for weeks now but he still hadn’t had that ‘breakout’ performance. This one, against a playoff team nonetheless, may have been that performance.
"“I’m not on social media, thank God,’’ he said Wednesday. “I’ll take your word for it, but I’m going to keep the focus on what we’re doing day to day in this building.”"
Stefanski was asked about players tweeting about the AFC North possibly opening up and he said that while he’s not on social media, he also won’t publicly discuss anything he would address with the players. Again, Stefanski handled this like a seasoned vet, which is refreshing. The players are naturally excited and he just wants them to remember it’s about the work.
"“We have contingency plans and we have a depth chart so we will work some other guys in there and then make a determination later in the week if Wyatt is able to play in the game,” Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said. “But until then, we will work some other guys in at that spot.”"
Wyatt Teller has been placed on the COVID reserve list and his status for the Baltimore game is in doubt. Chris Hubbard had to fill in for Teller earlier in the season and while he’s nursing a calf injury, he should be ready by Monday if needed.
