Myles Garrett was nominated by the Cleveland Browns for Man of the Year

This time last season, things were not looking good for Myles Garrett. The Cleveland Browns defensive end was suspended for the final six games of the season following a horrible altercation with Masin Rudolph of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Garrett had his name drug through the mud after he hit Rudolph with the quarterback’s own helmet and he sat quietly. Myles knew what he did was wrong and rather than try and defend his actions, he focused on improving himself.

Of course, Cleveland fans already knew Garrett was a good guy who made a bad choice. But he wasn’t satisfied with that as he only upped his efforts off the field to try and make a positive mark on this world. And that’s been noticed as the Browns nominated him for the NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.

This award is given to the best players who excel on the field as well as in the community. The story on Garrett’s nomination and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

‘This is who I was raised to be’: Myles Garrett gracious, determined after Man of the Year nomination — Anthony Poisal, ClevelandBrowns.com

"“He’s embraced his role as an active player captain for the Waterboys, which focuses on bringing clean water to communities in East Africa and has helped engage several other active players in joining the organization and engaging fans. He’s also helped start conversations around Cleveland about social justice and has lent a hand in several efforts to provide aid during the COVID-19 pandemic.”"

Garrett is a monster on the field but continues to prove he’s a humanitarian off of it. We here at DPD salute him for all he does as he continues to use his platform to make this world better.

Browns GM: Baker Mayfield ‘deserves a lot of credit’ for approach to 2020 season — Jelani Scott, NFL.com

"“I think Baker deserves a lot of credit in terms of how he’s approached this year,” Berry said. “I don’t know that the challenge of going into a third offensive system, no offseason can be appreciated enough externally. That’s no easy task for any player, let alone a young quarterback.”"

Those who don’t like Baker Mayfield continue to try and give the credit to everyone else. It was nice to see Andrew Berry heap some praise on No. 6 who really has improved every week. Mayfield is playing the best football of his life and it’s time he gets credit for it — and it’s also time to stop saying this team wins in spite of him.
