4 players who will propel Cleveland Browns into the playoffs

The Cleveland Browns are headed towards the playoffs and are going to need some players to take on new roles. The team will need to continue to improve if they are going to find success in January.

There are players like running back Nick Chubb and defensive end Myles Garrett who are the focal points of the offense and defense. These guys will need to play well for the Browns to succeed, obviously. However, they cannot do it on their own.

Here are four players who will provide the boost the Browns need to find success at the end of the season and into the playoffs.

4. Rashard Higgins, Wide Receiver

Rashard Higgins has a special connection with Baker Mayfield that cannot be understated. Since Mayfield has entered the league, he looks toward Higgins whenever they’re both on the field.

Higgins fell out of good graces during Freddie Kitchens’ time as head coach. He saw his playing time slashed tremendously and Mayfield suffered because of it. It began to seem like Higgins’ time in Cleveland was coming to an end as his contract expired after the season.

General manager Andrew Berry decided to bring Higgins back to Cleveland in one of the better offseason moves for the Browns. This move has panned out well for the Browns and the Mayfield-Higgins connection seems better than ever.

Rashard Higgins will play a key role as the Browns push onward towards their first playoff appearance in 18 seasons. His presence on the field provides a calming effect for Mayfield because of the trust between each other.

Higgins is seeming to be heating up at the right time too as last week he caught six passes for 95 yards and a touchdown. If he can maintain that level of production, it will provide the Browns with what they need out of their receiving core.

A relationship like this will prove important in the playoffs because it gives Mayfield a place to go when his back is against the wall. The sky is the limit for what Higgins can do for the Browns in the playoffs.
