Cleveland Browns: In-state 2021 NFL Draft prospect fits
By Cory Kinnan
6. Haskell Garrett, DT, Ohio State
There have been fewer players in the country who have risen to the top of their game than that of Ohio State defensive tackle Haskell Garrett. Not only that, but Garrett is an absolutely stunning story as well. Just a few months ago, Garrett was shot through the cheeks on campus in Columbus trying to break up an altercation; he has not only returned to full force, but has perhaps been the best pass rusher on the Ohio State defense.
On the shortened year for the Buckeyes, Garrett has racked up two tackles for loss, one sack, and even scored a touchdown in just five games this year. He has been a consistent penetrator along the defensive front for the Buckeyes and has the ability to keep the linebackers clean by eating up space up front as well. This would be a welcome addition in Cleveland as they both lack depth and someone who can consistently keep offensive linemen off of the second level.
Larry Ogunjobi is more than likely on his way out the door for the Browns as he has shown he has not developed over his four years in Cleveland. The Browns will have another tough decision to make with Sheldon Richardson as well, as he is due $13 million next season, with no dead money attached.
Needless to say the Browns are in a sticky situation in the trenches defensively; Garrett could be a piece of the puzzle in 2021.
