Instant reactions to the Cleveland Browns shootout loss to Ravens

Wow. What a game. The Cleveland Browns just lost in arguably the game of the year to the Baltimore Ravens by a score of 47-42, with a last-second safety on the Browns’ last-ditch effort to score a touchdown.

After almost suffering several heart attacks watching the game, there are three big takeaways that I believe Browns fans can take away from this game. They are:

"Baker is the franchise quarterback that we’ve all been hoping for.The Cleveland Browns desperately need defensive help, and should draft defense with their first three picks in the upcoming draft.Denzel Ward was desperately missed this game."

First off, we need to talk about what a great performance Baker Mayfield had. Minus one awful interception that led to the Ravens scoring six points, he played phenomenally. Baker threw 47 passes, completing 28 of them for 343 yards and two touchdowns, with one pick. Baker also continues his streak of not throwing anywhere between 200-300 yards against the Baltimore Ravens, something I touched on in earlier articles. This dude is the future of the franchise, and if he continues to play like this, the Browns can make some noise in the playoffs.

Secondly, the Cleveland Browns should be heavily scouting defensive players in this upcoming draft. A linebacker like Dylan Moses from Alabama would do wonders in this defense, as the Browns were just shredded by Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. Lamar was able to run for 124 yards against the Cleveland Browns, according to ESPN. That cannot happen if the team wants to continue their playoff push.

The Browns should look at drafting a linebacker, safety, and defensive lineman with their first three picks. I wouldn’t be against drafting solely defense in this upcoming draft.

Lastly, but arguably my biggest takeaway, the Browns miss Denzel Ward a lot. He could’ve easily turned the tide in this game, as the Browns secondary at times looked lost. Ward is arguably one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL and would have been able to shut down some of the plays that the Ravens were able to make through the air that turned the tide of the game.

Overall, while the Browns should not be happy at all with a loss, the fans should be exhilarated with how Baker Mayfield and the offense played today. If the defense can catch up, this Cleveland Browns team is a real Super Bowl contender.
