5 Bold Predictions as the Cleveland Browns face the New York Giants
Heading into Week 14, the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants were in the midst of a four-game winning streak. This led to the NFL flexing them into the Sunday Night Football game in Week 15 — and bumping out the Cowboys and 49ers.
This means we get a second week in a row with Cleveland in prime time. And the game could have more intrigue since both teams lost their Week 14 game which meant the Giants fell a game behind in the NFC East and the Browns moved to 9-4 — still looking for their first double-digit winning season since 2007.
Both clubs will be focused in this one, but it’s hard not to think Cleveland has a decisive advantage over the 5-8 Giants, who are struggling with injuries at key positions much like the Browns have. Here, we look ahead to that game with these five bold predictions for Week 15.
5. O-line continues dominance
In Week 14, Baker Mayfield threw the ball 47 times — and Jarvis Landry threw it once as well. In addition to that, Mayfield had to take off and run with it another five times. Despite all those dropbacks, the Browns quarterback wasn’t sacked once.
While he was under pressure a lot, and had to maneuver his way out, the offensive line did give him the time he needed. They also helped lead the way for Nick Chubb to run for 82 yards and Kareem Hunt to gain 33. Throw in Baker’s 23 and Cleveland had 138 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
Against the Giants, look for the line to continue to dominate and not allow another sack for a second week in a row. New York does have one stellar pass rusher in Leonard Williams, who has 8.5 sacks, but outside of that their next two top sack artists are Dexter Lawrence and Kyler Fackrell with three each. This Cleveland line can handle that.
