A Cleveland Browns mock draft heading into Week 15

The Cleveland Browns are coming off a thrilling, but ultimately disappointing, loss to the division-rival Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football. If there are two takeaways from that game, they are as follows: Baker Mayfield is a franchise quarterback, and boy does he ever need some help from his defense. In this week’s Browns mock draft, we can give him exactly that.

For this mock, we’ll be using FanSpeak’s On The Clock simulator with FanSpeak Steve’s big board. Be forewarned: if you’re looking for realism (the Browns are 9-4, what are you doing?), this isn’t the mock for you.

If, however, you enjoy having fun, then you may find this mock somewhat entertaining.

Scouting Report. LB. 1.25. 806. Pick Analysis. Penn State. MicahParsons. player

Linebacker is a big need, but there’s no way the Browns spend a first-round pick on one given the devaluing of the position. That is, unless Micah Parsons were to somehow fall to them. Parsons opted out of the 2020 college football season, but that won’t hurt his stock at all, because he didn’t have anything else to prove.

He’s 6-3, 240 pounds with elite athleticism and range. He missed 11 tackles on 188 career attempts, so he’s as reliable as they come. His instincts and reaction time against the run are excellent, and he has all the physical tools to be a dominant coverage LB. That’s to say nothing of his terrific pass-rushing ability. Parsons is the kind of player you can build a defense around, and he’d do so much for this Browns team.

If Joe Woods doesn’t have to worry about the LB position, and can scheme without covering up for those players, the group as a whole can really take off. Parsons can function as the sole LB in a dime base, which is Woods’ goal. The chances of this happening are negative, but we live in mock-land.
