These 4 could make a difference for the Cleveland Browns

With news breaking on Thursday that former Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens will be calling plays on Sunday, this matchup vs. the New York Giants could be a major revenge game. Not only will Kitchens be calling plays, Colt McCoy, the ex-Brown’s quarterback could also be getting the start.

This matchup is very winnable for the Browns, but after coming off a tough loss and facing this added fuel for the Giants, the Browns must be laser-focused and take care of business.

Keep your eye on these four guys who could have a major factor in the Browns getting the job done.

4. Cody Parkey, Kicker

Until last week, Browns fans believe they had their kicker saga solved with Cody Parkey. Things just haven’t been right since the departure of Phil Dawson, and after Parkey’s double doink kick in the playoffs that cost the Chicago Bears, he had seemed to find a nice home in Cleveland.

Then on Monday night, the kicker’s confidence was shattered. He started in the first half with a missed 39-yard field goal and then finished the night off with a missed extra point in the second half. Those were four points left off the board in a game the Browns eventually lost by 3 points (sure, the score said more than that but it was jaded by a meaningless safety).

Parkey has earned the right for one bad week, but it is important that he bounces back strong and doesn’t miss a kick. I’ll give him a pass on anything outside of 50 yards, but the red flags will be up in the air by everyone if he has another off week in prime time like he did last Monday night. His first few kicks will be crucial to watch to see if he has his confidence back, or if he is walking on eggshells.
