3 Cleveland Browns make AFC Pro Bowl roster

The Cleveland Browns have many good players, and three of them have been named to the Pro Bowl. Running back Nick Chubb, guard Joel Bitonio, and EDGE Myles Garrett all made it, with Bitonio and Garrett starting the game. While it’s a fun accomplishment, the Pro Bowl doesn’t mean much anymore from a skill perspective, as it’s become more or less a popularity contest.

This is why players like Matthew Judon, David DeCastro, Maurkice Pouncey, and others were named Pro Bowlers, while Olivier Vernon, J.C. Tretter, Wyatt Teller, Jack Conklin, Andy Janovich, and others were not.

It would not be a surprise to see more than one of that group end up on an All-Pro team at season’s end, which is the more prestigious honor. Teller has been the best guard in football this season with Zack Martin injured, and Conklin has been the league’s best right tackle. Yet both were left off the roster in favor of more popular names.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the Pro Bowl was canceled this season, as it means nothing. However, there will be some fun virtual activities for the three Browns players to take part in, such as a live Madden tournament with the Pro Bowl rosters.

While it may be disappointing for these players to not receive the recognition they deserve, at the end of the day, the Pro Bowl is meaningless. The Browns have preached the mantra of “no bark, all bite” this season, and have blocked the outside noise from affecting the locker room. They’ll do the same here, and focus on making the playoffs instead.
