The Cleveland Browns take care of business

If the playoffs started today your Cleveland Browns would hold the five seed and would travel to play the Tennessee Titans for a second time this season. While fans will be thrilled to make the playoffs, I don’t think anyone wants to face a Titans team that the Browns surprising manhandled earlier in the season. It’s tough to beat a team twice in a season unless it’s the Steelers over the Browns twice a year, which has become an infamous ritual for fans.

After easily taking care of business vs. the New York Giants who were still in a battle for an NFC East title, the Browns now move on to the other team in New York, the Jets. As a fan, I’m almost relieved they got their first win last week vs. the L.A. Rams, as this is a perfect week for them to get back into the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes.

This is another game the Browns must take care of business in the lock-in their playoff spot. Let’s see five bold predictions as the Browns once again travel to the Big Apple.

5. Backups show up big

In the last 20 years of following the Browns have, I thought, “The Browns may be in a good position to rest a few guys this week”. But that may be exactly the case this week as they take on an undermanned Jets team. Guys like Wyatt Teller, Chris Hubbard, and Ronnie Harrison may be ready to come back and play, but Kevin Stefanski may give them another week to heal and be 100 percent healthy heading into the playoffs.

Backups Karl Joseph and Sheldrick Redwine have looked more than capable at safety, and rookie Nick Harris did a fantastic job at right guard last night when Hubbard went down on the first series. The Browns will certainly be lacking depth, but having Teller, Hubbard, and Harrison at full strength vs. the Steelers is more important than risking additional injuries vs. the Jets.
