3 Cleveland Browns who have performed well while remaining under the radar

The Cleveland Browns have been playing well over the past couple of weeks and now have an outside shot at winning the AFC North. Most of this could be attributed to the stellar play of quarterback Baker Mayfield and other stars.

However, there is more to success than just a few stars. Some players fly under the radar and make plays that support the team. Here are three players who have gone relatively unnoticed by the public but have performed very well so far this season.

3. Terrance Mitchell, CB

Terrance Mitchell has been one of the few players in the Cleveland secondary who has been able to stay healthy so far this season. His role in the defense has been constantly in flux since his teammates are constantly being moved around as different players go down with an injury and come back.

Entering the year, Mitchell was going to either be the third or fourth cornerback in the lineup behind Denzel Ward and Greedy Williams. Williams has missed the entire season up to this point with a shoulder injury. Ward also missed some time forcing Terrence Mitchell to take on the opposing teams’ best wide receiver in those games Ward missed.

Despite the less than ideal circumstances in the back end of the defense, Mitchell has stepped up and played well. He will line up on the outside on most plays and take on some of the best the NFL has to offer at wide receiver every week.

Mitchell has gotten beat in coverage his fair share of times, he especially struggled against A.J. Brown in Tennessee a few weeks ago. But for the most part, he seems to hold his own in coverage.

The Cleveland Browns secondary has been absolutely decimated by injuries this season and it shows on the field. Terrance Mitchell has provided the back end of the defense with some damage control by holding down the fort while the rest of the secondary spends most weeks healing.
