Week 16 just got tougher on the Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns have added six players to their COVID-19 reserve list on Saturday evening, according to several reports.

The team’s flight to New Jersey was delayed and the facility was closed while the team and the league identified high-risk, close contact individuals that would not be eligible to board the flight.

Linebacker B.J. Goodson was added to the list, as he tested positive for the virus. Wide receivers Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins, Donovan Peoples-Jones, and KhaDarel Hodge have all been ruled out as high-risk close contacts. Additionally, rookie linebacker Jacob Phillips is inactive as well.

Despite Cleveland’s wide receiver room being wiped out as close contacts, Sunday’s game against the New York Jets will be played as scheduled, according to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.

The team has not yet commented, outside of a formal announcement. Their flight to New Jersey will be departing at 7:00 p.m.

To add insult to injury, practice squad wide receiver Ryan Switzer was not activated from the reserve list. Rookie offensive tackle Jedrick Wills was cleared and elevated and will start at left tackle on Sunday.

The Browns wide receivers will be Marvin Hall, Derrick Willies, and Ja’Marcus Bradley.

In addition, the Browns will still have tight ends Austin Hooper, Harrison Bryant, Stephen Carlos, and David Njoku activated. Expect Kareem Hunt to play a role in the passing game as well.

As long as the Browns wide receivers and Phillips continue to test negative throughout the week, they will be able to return to practice and be activated for next week’s game against Pittsburgh.
