The Cleveland Browns get Ronnie Harrison back at the perfect time
Week 17 will be the biggest game of the regular season for the Cleveland Browns. Following a loss to the New York Jets, they now find themselves needing a win to secure a playoff spot and they will be facing the hated Pittsburgh Steelers as they look for that victory.
The game started to tilt in Cleveland’s favor when Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin announced they will rest some starters, including quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. On top of that, Cleveland now has some good news when it comes to their own roster.
On Wednesday, the Browns announced safety Ronnie Harrison would be activated from the IR as he’s recovered from a shoulder injury that cost him the past four games. With him out, the secondary has struggled, so his return will be huge for them in this do-or-die game.
That story and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.
Cleveland Browns News
"“They activated Ronnie Harrison off injured reserve/designated for return with his shoulder injury, meaning he’ll likely play against the Steelers on Sunday in their ‘win-and-in’ game. He’s missed the past four games and the Browns have missed him.”"
Harrison was added before the season began in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars and he’s been a steal for them. His play at safety has masked a lot of holes in the secondary, and his return could help the Browns secure their first postseason appearance since 2002.
Johnny Manziel agrees to join Fan Controlled Football startup league — Kevin Seifert, ESPN
"“The league, scheduled to begin play in February, will feature 7-on-7 games where fans set rosters, call plays and interact in a blend of traditional and esports environments.”"
This clearly is not where Johnny Manziel saw his football career going after being a star at Texas A&M. Who knows, it could be an interesting thing to see, and Manziel will draw eyes to the event — even if it’s to see if he will fail.
Cleveland Browns forced to shut facility down again
A positive test for a player on the practice squad and a member of the coaching staff caused the Browns to shut their facility down once again. This time, it looks as though there won’t be a rash of players sent to the COVID-19/reserve list.
Stefanski, Mayfield have to prove themselves in Week 17
DPD’s own Matt McFartridge says that the Browns game in Week 17 will fall on the shoulders of head coach Kevin Stefanski and quarterback Baker Mayfield. They both have questions lingering over them after the Week 16 debacle, but winning over Pittsburgh will quiet that talk. At least for a week.
