5 2021 New Year’s resolutions for the Cleveland Browns

2020 has been difficult for everyone, but it’s also been home to what is perhaps the best Cleveland Browns season since the team returned in 1999. With the year winding down, here are five resolutions the team should make for 2021.

5. Get healthy

Both the injury bug and the COVID-19 virus have hit the Browns hard this year, but they’ve managed to win 10 games in spite of it all. Andrew Billings and Drew Forbes both opted out of the season, as they would have been higher risks if they were to contract the virus. Plenty of key players have missed games due to testing positive or being in close contact with someone who did, and even more have missed practice time for the same reasons.

Odell Beckham, Jr. was lost for the season in Week 7 due to a torn ACL. Grant Delpit suffered a torn achilles in training camp, which devastated the team’s plan for the defense. Greedy Williams suffered a shoulder injury in camp which led to nerve damage, and he has not played a down. Nick Chubb, Adrian Clayborn, Ronnie Harrison Jr., Austin Hooper, David Njoku, Wyatt Teller, J.C. Tretter, Olivier Vernon, Denzel Ward, and Mack Wilson have all missed significant time to injury.

Every NFL team deals with injuries, but it’s impressive that the Browns have been able to win 10 games with the frequency and impact of the injuries they’ve had. The offseason will be welcomed as the players recover from an unprecedented season, and a Browns team at full strength (with hopefully no lasting complications) next season will be a dangerous opponent indeed.
