Bill Callahan will miss the Cleveland Browns Week 17 game

The Cleveland Browns Week 17 game is for all the marbles. While there’s more than one scenario for them to make it into the playoffs, the most likely way to do so will be for them to win against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Doing so guarantees they will make it into the postseason and end the longest drought in the NFL.

Unfortunately, they will be down not only some key players while trying to score that victory, but one of their top coaches will be missing as well. On Saturday, it was reported that offensive line coach Bill Callahan will miss the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to COVID-19 protocols.

Callahan won’t be alone in missing the game as assistant offensive line coach Scott Peters and wide receivers coach Chad O’Shea will also be out of the game. To take over for Callahan, the Browns will turn to Ryan Cordell to coach the offensive line whereas Callie Brownson will take O’Shea’s spot as the receivers coach.

Brownson is in a familiar spot as she made history earlier this season when she coached tight ends for Cleveland against the Jacksonville Jaguars. While O’Shea has done a great job, Brownson has proven she can handle herself during the games.

Replacing Callahan could prove to be more difficult. The former head coach has completely turned the Browns offensive line around. What was once considered a weakness for Cleveland is now a strength as he has helped develop Jedrick Wills into a solid left tackle and guided Wyatt Teller as he became one of the best guards in the NFL.
