Wyatt Teller

Teller came to Cleveland in 2019 in a late preseason trade with the Bills by former GM John Dorsey. During the first six weeks of 2019, Teller played a total of 11 snaps. Teller would take over the starting job in week seven and play every snap until week 16.

The young guard had some flashes in 2019 that put him in front of the competition heading into 2020. Then COVID happened, and opt-outs by Drew Forbes, Colby Gossett, and Malcolm Pridgeon gave Teller the easy win at right guard. All Teller has done since, well, we will let PFF tell you:

"Right guard was actually something of a problem spot for selection this season. All of the best-performing players at the position missed time, and some were sidelined for significant portions of the season. Wyatt Teller played just 694 snaps, including nullified plays, some 300 shy of a full season. Still, he was far better than those players who did make it to over 1,000 snaps. Teller was the best run-blocking guard in the league and became a huge issue for the Browns when they lost him from the right side of their line. His pass blocking wasn’t stellar, but he still allowed just 14 total pressures all season. – Sam Monson Pro Football Focus"

While Monson is right about Teller’s pass blocking, it still falls in line with his career grade. Even with the injury issues Teller struggled with this year, he hit the minimum qualified snaps to be PFF’s highest-graded player at the position.

He is easily one of the best pulling guards in the NFL, walling off defenders with a nasty streak that any coach would love. Teller back and healthy for the playoffs is crucial to the Browns offensive attack, especially when facing the Steelers defensive front.
