Daily Dawg Tags: Cleveland Browns still struggling through outbreak

Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know
This weekend is going to be tough for the Cleveland Browns and that’s beyond unfortunate. This franchise has battled through nearly two decades without making it to the postseason and now that they’re finally back, a COVID-19 outbreak is stacking the deck against them.
As of Thursday night, the team will be without head coach Kevin Stefanski, starting guard Joel Bitonio, wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge, and safety Ronnie Harrison. They might also be without Denzel Ward as well in their most important game of the season.
On top of that, their facilities have been closed so there has been no actual practice. It’s unfortunate because the team has been dealing with this outbreak for roughly a month and while other teams had their games rescheduled, the Browns have not — and now it could cost them a playoff game.
That story and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.
Cleveland Browns News
"“Some have been severely fined for COVID violations and the Las Vegas Raiders even had a draft choice stripped, but others have skated with a slap on the wrist or nothing at all.”"
Robinson also pointed out how the league forced the Denver Broncos to play without a quarterback as they continue to be inconsistent in their handling of the COVID outbreaks. It’s unfortunate because the Browns continue to struggle and have not practiced which will actually hurt the league if they can’t put a decent product on the field this weekend. But it looks as though at this point, the team will just have to suck it up and go out there at less than 100 percent.
Cleveland Browns’ facility still closed, lack of practice ‘won’t have impact’ ‚— Jake Trotter, ESPN
"“Just adapt and play,” Mayfield said. “It’s win or go home. So whoever we have out there, we’re counting on them. And we believe in those people. … it’s hitting the curveball and adjusting each day.”"
Mayfield is saying the right things, but that’s because he has to. There’s no way the lack of practice won’t have an impact on this game, but then again, he’s a confident player and knows what he needs to do to win. One thing that is for sure, if Cleveland wins this game, no one better ever question him again as the leader of this franchise.
3 Reasons the Browns will win their playoff game
Greg Newland still believes the Browns can get it done and he offers up three reasons they will win this weekend.
Aaron Rodgers has total confidence in Alex Van Pelt
With Kevin Stefanski out for their playoff game, Cleveland will turn to Alex Van Pelt to call their plays. A former coach in Green Bay, Van Pelt worked closely with Aaron Rodgers who has complete confidence in his ability to do the job.
