Chase Claypool has extra salty take after Cleveland Browns win
By Sam Penix
Pittsburgh WRs just can’t stop talking about Cleveland Browns
It seems as if the embarrassment of getting destroyed by the Cleveland Browns after talking trash all week wasn’t enough for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Wide receiver Chase Claypool took to Instagram to interact with some of his fans, and made an interesting comment about the team that just took his squad to the woodshed.
And as can often be the case after being embarrassed, Claypool sounds extra salty.
Claypool says “…bad loss, but…the Browns are gonna get clapped next week, so it’s all good”.
Except it isn’t “all good”. The Steelers were dominated on national television in what may have been Ben Roethlisberger’s final game. Center Maurkice Pouncey is already reportedly retiring, and the team is in salary cap hell, so some major personnel changes will be coming over the next few offseasons.
Now that his season is over, Claypool has plenty of time to focus on building his social media brand, as he was doing a few weeks ago, documenting his team breaking COVID-19 protocols.
Ironically, Pittsburgh shut down their facility today due to a positive test, so they’ve got that going for them.
While the Steelers are now watching the NFL playoffs from their respective couches, the Browns have an opponent to gameplan for, the Kansas City Chiefs. The unslayable dragon with the best quarterback in the league. Cleveland is a 10-point underdog at the moment, and just like this past week, no is expecting the Browns to win.
But just like the Steelers, the Chiefs are not invincible. Here is a quick recap of some of Kansas City’s games this season:
- Beat the Los Angeles Chargers 23-20
- Lost to the Las Vegas Raiders 40-32
- Beat the Carolina Panthers 33-31
- Beat the Raiders 35-31
- Beat the Denver Broncos 22-16
- Beat the Miami Dolphins 33-27
- Beat the New Orleans Saints (with Drew Brees returning from injury) 32-29
- Beat the Atlanta Falcons 17-14
The Chiefs are an excellent team, but they are not unbeatable. With the way that Baker Mayfield has played since Week 7, the Browns just might be one of the only teams that can hang with them, even with Cleveland’s abhorrent defense.
With (hopefully) a full-strength coaching staff and roster, the Browns should give the Chiefs a heck of a fight, even if they don’t ultimately pull out the victory. Just remember; this was supposed to be the Browns “learn how to win” season, not their deep playoff run year.
And just for kicks; if the Browns clapped the Steelers in historic fashion, and the Browns will be clapped by the Chiefs, then it’s probably a good thing that we don’t have to watch what would happen to the Steelers in Kansas City.
