Great news for the Cleveland Browns

Fans of the Cleveland Browns have been waiting for this news all week and today it finally happened.

Denzel Ward and Kevin Johnson have both been activated from the COVID-19 reserve list.

Both players tested positive before the week 17 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers and have missed the last two games.

This couldn’t come at a better time as the Browns prepare to face the high-powered Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round of the playoffs. Ward is by far the best secondary player on the team, and Johnson has done a nice job as nickel corner all year.

Not only are their skills welcomed back, but the depth was also a major question. With the spread offense of the Chiefs and the skillset of their tight end Travis Kelce, the Browns will likely have five defensive backs on the field most of the game.

The last big question of return is pro-bowl right guard Joel Bitonio. Bitonio tested positive last week and should be eligible to return this week, however it is unclear if he will have enough negative tests to play this week. The longest-tenured Cleveland Brown deserves the ability to play in the playoffs more than anyone on the roster.

What’s even better about this news is Ward and Johnson being activated so early in the week. While practice time isn’t always the most important thing in the NFL, in a week like this getting them on the practice field for three days will be crucial.
