Cleveland Browns steal top cornerback in Divisional Round 2021 NFL mock draft

With the addition of Surtain to play the boundary, the Browns land another excellent defensive back in the second round to provide some versatility. Jevon Holland opted out of the 2020 season, and has some questions to answer about his athleticism, but he was extremely productive during his two years at Oregon and possesses excellent instincts and read-and-react skills.
His physical tools aren’t elite, but he makes up for that with his cerebral playstyle. He’s logged significant snaps at both safety and slot corner, and in Woods’ defense, would likely rotate between the two spots.
Woods wants safeties who can cover like corners, and if the Browns are really going to run a 4-1-6 scheme at some point, Woods will need quite a few of those players. In fact, it would be impossible to have too many, and the it’s likely that Cleveland will completley transform the DB room this offseason.
Holland may like the athletic traits to be an elite player in the NFL, but with how smart he is, his floor is very high, and that’s the type of player that the Browns need in the secondary right now. The coverage busts that lead to huge gains for the opponent have been devastating this season, and adding smart and reliable players like Holland would go a long way to stopping those.
