Cleveland Browns steal top cornerback in Divisional Round 2021 NFL mock draft
By Sam Penix
Ronnie Perkins is a strong candidate for the Browns first-round pick, if he’s even still on the board. He logged 5.5 sacks in six games and had dominant performances against Kansas and Oklahoma State. The 6-3, 247-pounder is a strong run defender who possesses violent hands and anexcellent motor.
With The First Pick’s Cory Kinnan speaks fondly of Perkins, and sends him to Cleveland in his latest mock draft. The injury to Olivier Vernon means the Browns must find a new starting EDGE for next season, and Perkins could very well be that guy.
As stated earlier, one can never have too many good DBs. Ifeatu Melifonwu is a very good corner with elite size at 6-3, 213 pounds. The Browns need a bigger DB who can shut Chase Claypool up, and Melifonwu has the tools to do that. He’s an easy mover with quick feet and good instincts, and is another player who could be under consideration when the Browns are on the clock in the first round.
This CB class is not incredibly deep, and just took a hit as Clemson’s Derion Kendrick announced he will be returning for his senior season. Melifonwu will likely rocket up draft boards following the NFL Combine (if it still happens), and is a name for Cleveland fans to watch.
